In the wild, an animal can panic and react with flight behaviour when hit by a tranquilliser dart. However, it is precisely in this situation that the animal needs to be attended to and must not be lost sight of.

When tranquilising animals that are prone to fleeing or during a tranquillisation operation in difficult terrain, a syringe equipped with a transmitter is used. Anchored to the animal via a barbed needle, the transmitter attached to the syringe enables the animal to be located using a receiver.
